Almost time to say good-bye

I picked up the girls from VBS this evening. When we got to my car and I opened the front door, Jocelyn was standing a few feet away. She said to me "I smell your car."
"Wow! You can smell my car?" I reply back.
"Yeah!"
"Wow! You have a very good sniffer!" then as I put her in her car seat and she starts making sniffing noises. So funny. Using that good sniffer.

We had just got ourselves situated in the car and I ask the girls about VBS. Jocelyn tries to tell me what she had for snack and I ask if she had Mac & cheese. She says yes. Then starts listing "Pretzels, cheese, mac and cheese..."
Kenleigh said "I didn't get any Mac & cheese. Joce did you really get Mac & cheese?" Apparently Kenleigh was upset that she didn't have any mac & cheese but something tells me Joce didn't have any either.

During the drive to their house. Kenleigh asks Jocelyn if she tooted because she heard a bzzzt noise. (ok, it's hard to make sounds when you have to type it out.) As we were driving in the car Joce tells me that I need a diaper change.
"What?!?" I reply. "I'm not even wearing a diaper! No one in this car is wearing a diaper!"
As we kept on driving Joce is singing a song almost the whole way home and from what I recall it wasn't a very kind song though most of the words where kind of not understandable. She was making it all up from the sound of it.

Once we got to their house it was time for bath and bed. They brought out Gilbert. They wanted to wash him. I told them they had to wash themselves first. Then they played with Gilbert. Like in my earlier post, Our Friend Gilbert, they wanted to dress him with wash cloths. Joce is holding one and smelling it. I ask "Does that smell good?"
She shakes her head and scrunches her nose up and says "Smells like laundry." They asked for some soap to was Gilbert so I gave them a few squirts and they went to scrubbing Gilbert clean. "Wash your nose." Kenleigh said.
"Wash your eyes." -Jocelyn
"Wash your chin. Wash your tail." -Kenleigh
Then they go to rince him off and want to wash him again.
Kenleigh looks and me and says "Joce is not letting me wash Gilbert!"
This is not the first time I have to tell them "One person gets to wash the head. The other one gets to wash the body."
Then Kenleigh says of Gilbert and the yummy smelling soap. "He smells goodieood!!"
After they have Gilbert dressed Joce looks up to me and says "Can you take a picture this time?"
"Of Gilbert?" Joce nods her head.

Bed time equals story time and I tell them that since it is my last night to watch them for volleyball I'll read them three books. So we each picked out one. Joce chose Cinderella. Kenleigh chose, I Love My Daddy Because..., and I chose one of their all time favorites that it had been a while since I read it to them, There is a Monster at the End of this Book.

Jewelry Extravaganza

Today I babysat a boy, Ryan, who's three and a girl, Lea, who is six. Anyway we were playing in their play room. Lea got out all her rocks and showed me which one was her favorite. She had lots but I have seen more. I didn't realize how much kids love rocks.
Lea pulls out this puzzle that builds into a circle. I guess I am out of the cool loop because I had never seen anything like it. So I made her put it together and I helped.

Ryan wanted to play with his train set so we got it all out in the living room after a while before we even got it set up, he didn't want to play with it. But I thought it was cool, to build the track anyway you want it. So while his sister and I played with it for a bit. Ryan was trying to tell me something, some of the time it is hard to make out what he is saying. I catch something like his nose is in the garage.?
His sister looks at me and says "I don't know what he is saying do you?" Um... not quiet. Usually siblings can understand better what their sibling is trying to say but apparently that wasn't the case.
Randomly Ryan starts bocking like a chicken. "bock! bock!"
I look over to him and ask "Are you a chicken?" he nods his head. A few times Lea would join in.
We played this princess game wher you had to collect the jewlery. Lea got close to winning several times. I must say it was pretty funny seeing Ryan in earrings because the game is you spin the dial then you move the pieces and you either collect jewelry or put it back. Whoever ends up with all the jewels of their color and the crown wins.
I won. No cheating was involved

Silly Time

This morning was a day full of silliness! I was watching three girls. A one year old, three and six year old.
We played a game where you draw something and have to guess it. Well I got to go first in the drawing department and it is so hard because when you're not thinking about it you could draw anything but when you're put on the spot, you can't think of anything.
Can you guess what that is?
We listened to music over and over and over again. One of the songs was Jingle Bells, good month after all isn't it supposed to be Christmas in July?
The piano was the music. It was nice for about the first 30 minutes.
Later on, the oldest asks me. "How can I be silly?" At first I don't know what she means by that. Because when I had arrived she and her sister had done a silly song and dance for me and told me a couple of jokes. So I wasn't sure if she was asking for jokes. But then she said "how to dress silly." So I told her she needed miss matched socks and clothes that just didn't go together. She had on two different socks but then decided to make her own out of tissues. Which I thought was a neat idea although they don't last long. Her sister decided to follow her example and made some too.

We ended up with some funny combinations like scarfs on legs and winter hats. I made a funny hat out of pipe cleaners. There was undies over pants and shirts on heads. It got pretty silly!

Museum Madness

Today I went with Jocelyn, Kenleigh, and their grandmother to an Art Museum.
While their grandma sat with her friends and talked, I took the girls around the little exhibit.
Earlier we just browsed the first room and the guards got onto us for have a little sippy cup out of a bag, even though it had a lid. So when we went to walk through more of the exhibit. Joce had her lemonade in her little sippy cup. I told Joce she had better finish it before we go in if she wants to look at the pretty pictures. Kenleigh was hanging onto one of the stroller handles saying “We can’t take the drink in there. The guard will get mad. Joce, you can't take the drink in there.” I told her she was right and encouraged Jocelyn to drink a little faster. Kenleigh was getting very antsy. Finally, after much asking if she was done and if I could put her cup in the bag Joce relented to giving me her lemonade. I stored it under the stroller to please the guards.
We would walk around from painting to painting and Kenleigh would say, not in a library tone “Read that one!” pointing to the sign next to the painting that talked about it. I would read the title if I could pronounce it and give a short little summary of what I thought it was about. I would occasionally ask them what they thought was going on in the painting but it didn’t last long with Kenleigh. I would start to say the title on some of them then she would scurry off to the next painting and I would hear “Read this one!” I could feel the guards eyes on us as we moved from painting to painting and room to room. No doubt waiting to find something to get on to us about.
Every time Kenleigh would holler out “Whats this one say?” or “Read that one.” I would try and shh her I was afraid the guards would be like the kids are to noisy, kick them out! Forutnately they never had to. Jocelyn would occasionally yell out something too and I’d try and calmly tell her to be quiet. She just wanted to be out of the stroller but if I let her out then she’d be running all over the place.
Kids not getting a nap makes them not always the pleasant person to be around. I have learned. And those two little girls didn’t have one so of course as the day went on their would be little squabbles here and there but overall it was a fun outing.

Memory Card

Today as I was making lunch, Mac & Cheese, for the girls. Earlier they had been playing with a Disney Princess memory card game. Kenleigh had brought several to the table and was laying them all out. Joce got upset because Kenleigh had lots of memory cards and she didn't have any. I told here there were several in the living room but she just kept on fussing. So finally I carried her in there so she could see for herself and of course she found some and brought them back to the table while Kenleigh collected all the rest. After playing for a bit and counting how many cards each had Joce notices that she didn't have a match of one of the little mermaid cards. I told her it was ok and that she really didn't need a match. It didn't work she cried about it and I kept telling her that it was ok. She got upset with Kenleigh and tried to take her card. So I took them both away. And Joce went crying to her room and closed the door.
Kenleigh stayed in the kitchen with me and I talked to her about why Joce was sad and that Kenleigh could be the bigger person and do the right thing by maybe giving Jocelyn the card. But I wanted Kenleigh to want to give it to her. I didn't want to force Kenleigh to give it to her. I told Kenleigh, “Kenleigh, you want to be the bigger person so I would like you to give joce your mermaid card." Ok, maybe I did tell her to give it to Joce but I wanted it to come from her heart. "Don’t you want her to say years from now. Kenleigh, you’re the bestest sister I ever had! Remember that time you gave me the memory card?” Well, a few years from now Jocelyn probably won't remember the memory card but it was relevant at the time. She thought about it for a  couple of seconds and nodded her head. I gave her the memory cards and she went to give them to Joce. They were both in there for a few minutes and I wasn't hearing any fighting or anything out of them so I was walking to their room when I ran into Kenleigh and I asked her if Joce was happy that Kenleigh gave her the mermaid cards. She nodded and said Joce was happy. I gave her a big hug and told her I was so proud of her. I was proud of her decision and still am. I really think she wanted to give Jocelyn the cards although it took a little help from me for her to see that she did it and that's what counts. :)

ARGH! We Pirates!

When I first arrive at Jocelyn and Kenleigh's I am set down on the couch as they apply make-up to themselves later to myself. Jocelyn tells me "Don't peek." They start applying make-up to my eyes. with markers and yes, I made sure they were capped. Kenleigh brushed my hair. So after were had our make-up on we were ready to play.
The make-up bowl and brushes.
We play fairies and Jocelyn is the head fairy, Kenleigh is a princess, and I am a princess. Then of course their come a question of who is going to be prince. Kenleigh finds a Koala bear and says that he will be the prince.
I ask Joce if she wants the Koala to be her prince but she responds with a shake of her head and says "No, I'm a fairy, Fairys don't marry princes."
"Why?" I asked.
"Fairies have lots of friends."
Our wands, there were 3 so we each had one!

As we were picking up some toys Kenleigh found a pirate earring and I found an eye patch. Instead of princesses and fairies we all became pirates.
Kenleigh yells out "Argh! Maites Argh! Poist the sails!!" I got a good laugh out of that one.
I said, "I think you mean hoist, hoist the sails."
Then we started a little saying we call to each other. Kenleigh would say, "ARgh me Pirates!"
and the others would call out in a certain rhythem "Argh, argh, argh argh argh!" (guess you had to be there.)
Then Kenleigh spys something off of our ship. I don't remember what it was but she says "It's something steryous!" meaning mysterious. "Poist the sails."
So we hoisted them and she hollers out. "Uh captain." that's me. "some people aren't waping the deck." meaning swabing .
"I told her you make them wap the deck other wize..."
"They walk the plank!" We had to make a few men walk the plank but they just weren't doing their job.

Summer Days

This morning instead of going in the car, I stayed with Jocelyn at home. She wanted to play with the Play-Doh. So we spent about an hour doing that. We made snowmen and tons of different kinds of hearts.
roll it out Jocelyn

Jocelyn also wanted her hair braided so I did that. I think it's the first time I have braided her hair, since it is short. Although I must say braiding a kids hair when the kid likes to move around is hard!

The braid
When the other kids got here, while they played, I was in charge of making seven lunches not including my own. They had a choice between Peanut butter and jelly, ham, or turkey sandwiches. I was running around making sandwiches and taking orders. Remembering who wanted what kind of sandwich with mayo or without with cheese or without, and just plain pb. Oh, and their was one with no bread, that was a turkey. A PB&J would have been real messy without bread. I must say it was a blast! And now I'm a sandwich pro!

The chaos in the kitchen
All the plates with sandwiches
After lunch all the kids got their swimsuits on and we headed outside for some summer fun! With the water wiggler the kids would run with the water buckets from the pool to the wiggly hose and fill up the buckets. The wiggly was made for kids to run through and for some reason, that is the one thing they don't do but I must say it is a great way to water the yard.

Water Wiggler (I actually don't know it's exact name.)

Car Ride Conversations

Here are a few conversations I heard on the car ride back to the house today:

"Eat the chocolate, it will make me run faster." Apparently chocolate now has special power.
"Run! The truck is after us! They're bad." Ruby screams from the very back seat.
"No! They're good." Kenleigh tries to tell her.
"No, nobody is following us." One of the other girls shout.
"No, no, no, no, you're not making any sence. It is hidden in the garden. We have to go down that driveway to that driveway to get to the garden." Kenleigh says.
Joce says to the girls in the back. "Guys, what are you talking about?"
Andrew says, "I don't know."

"Who wants to go faster? If we eat this chocolate, you can freeze time. Eat it, it freezes everything but what your touching." Ruby says still caught up on the chocolate having magical powers.
Kenleigh, "Thats not going to help us."
"Who wants to eat the big one?" Ruby asks.
"Ruby's sharing chocolate with us." Kenleigh yells to us sitting in the front.
Joce says, "Uh, what Kenleigh talking about?"
Andrew says to joce, "Don't ask."

"Yesterday morning I remember when they were kicking my head. It got annoying." Andrew told to the car.

"Don't eat the wrapper!" Ruby shouts to Kenleigh.
Then I hear Joce making little sounds, "I'm a baby." I looked over and she is playing with her fingers like they are puppets.

Froggy

I was downstairs waiting for the UPS guy and Joce calls out my name and asks "Are you down there?" I respond with "Joce. I'm in here." She comes walking in and climbs up on a chair and looks at the book shelves where their are books, action figures, and a few stuffed animals. She picks up a frog beanie baby and starts playing with him.
She sets the frog down on the chair that I am sitting in. I went to pet him and she pulls him away and says, "He doesn’t like you because you be angry at him."
"I'm angry at him?" I replied a little confused, I didn't think I was sounding angry. Then she brings him back to the chair I was sitting in and I went to pet him again and he bites me.
“He bit you because he being angry at you.”
"Now he's angry at me?" I respond even more confused as to why this little frog is angry at me. I don't know what I had done for him to be so angry.
“Don’t pet him say your sorry. Say sorry froggy” Now I have to appologise to a stuffed frog? Alright, the stuff you do for kids.
"I’m sorry froggy for acting… angry? Was I acting angry.” She sets him at the foot of my chair facing me as she walks around the room.
“He’s not looking at you, he’s looking at mamma.” She says to me as she walks back over and gives him a hug.
"Who's Mamma?"
"I'm his mamma." She says. "He like his Mamma."
"Do you give him kisses?" I ask.
"Mmm-humm." She kisses the frog. her face changes into an angry face. "I'm not going to kiss a frog! YUCK!"

She plays with the frog a little while longer and some how froggy ends up in timeout and then I guess he gets murdered by the action figures. I am watching so this all goes on in her head. She would tell me occasionally what was happening. I looked over one time and froggy was laying on his back and she says "He dead."
"Oh no! Poor froggy!"

Day two of after VBS

Well this time I was able to go with and pick them up in the car. Boy, once you have the six kids in the car, it gets loud. Kenleigh was in the very back with two of her friends, then Joce was in the back/middle seat with Andrew and another one of their friends and I was in the passenger seat. As we were driving down the road. I hear Kenleigh giggling with the two of her friends in the very back saying something like "I'll cut your hair off." (not very exciting but I guess it's time for haircuts?) I look at Joce and she is looking over her shoulder and says to kenleigh and her friends "Guys stop laughing!" and much to her dismay they didn't listen. I had to intervene a couple of times to tell them to quiet down. We dropped off the friends then it was time for lunch. I made sandwiches of different kinds.
After lunch we played. Jocelyn was using a wire hanger for a bow and arrow. What a great idea! I found this plastic one and couldn't find a string anywhere. After digging around in the dress-up box I found suspenders. Perfect! So I wrapped them around and made it into a bow and arrow. Then Andrew and I hunted a dragon. I was going to take a picture of my handy work and right before I did Joce wanted to see it. Well she pulled hard on the string and it snapped it. I was a little disappointed that it didn't last long.
After playing inside for a bit, we went outside and I told them there was a surprise today.

The Surprise

Kenleigh and Andrew wanted to swing so I stayed with Joce and we played with chalk. We joined them after a little coloring.
Joce's rainbow

Kenleigh pushed Joce in her swing. What a great big sister!

It was really hot so after playing for a while we went inside. Andrew wanted to play what we were playing yesterday so they put their costumes back on and we continued till it was time for them to go home.
Joce gave me some jewels so I was rich, after all they are rubies ;)

Story Land

Princess Comfortable chasing Bob the Bunny
When it was time for Joce to get a nap. Kenleigh, her cousin and I played a game. Not exactly sure who I was but I was a good guy. Kenleigh was Princess Comfortable, and Andrew her cousin was Bob the bunny/ Bob the builder/ Bob and Larry. Along with his sidekick played by Tigger who was Larry/ Tigger the attacker. And I mean he was an attacker! He jumped on my face a couple of times. Kenleigh and I had to hide the treasure from Bob the builder who was evil. But Bob the bunny was to good guy. Yes, It did get a little confusing.
The 2nd sidekick or 3rd, QuaQua, which sounded like a bird call so I don't think I'm saying it correctly
Princess Comfortable checking on her treasure

The Key!!
Two of the many sidekicks to bob the bunny or was it builder? Oh I can't remember anymore

First day of after VBS

Toy from Chick-fil-a, a silly
monster.
It was the first day of VBS for the kids. We had a car full! There was Kenleigh and two of her friends, Joce (who isn't old enough to attend VBS yet), and Kenleigh and Joce's cousin. I didn't get to take them all to VBS but I met them afterwards at Chick-fil-a. They had already finished eating when I arrived and were getting ready to go play.
Later on I had to take Jocelyn to the potty so we turn into the restroom cut off and walk into open the women's restroom door. She says "This is the boys potty." I said "No it's not." and walked to the handicap stall. I put the paper down on the toilet since she has to sit on it. YUCK! While she was sitting on the potty she said "You're not my best friend." I said "What? But you're mine!" she responded with "No, Granna's mine." Granna will love to hear that! :)
We dropped off the friends at their house then went to Granna's. I guess this morning Granna gave Joce a little snowglobe. Well it was time for Kenleigh to get one. So when Granna gave Kenleigh her's. Joce gasps and says "We can play with them and make them talk!" It was so cute they both walked off together but Kenleigh seemed uninterested in playing a game at the moment. I heard Joce in the other room say again, "We can make them talk!"
both the snowglobes

Kenleigh's snowglobe

Their cousin along with Kenleigh was trying to play the piano and I heard Joce singing so I asked her "What kind of song are you singing?" she responded with "A loud song." I carried Joce over to the couch and I was writing something down on my phone and Joce said "I want to see pictures of Gilbert!" She was so excited and I was lucky I didn't delete my Gilbert pictures otherwise I would have been in some trouble.

Another one bites the dust!

The toy tearer is back!
Another toy meets its maker the trash can.
I thought perhaps this visit he wouldn't ruin a toy. I was wrong. I just found a toy that has seen it's last. Perhaps I should write an Ode to toy. Okay, maybe not, probably wouldn't sound very good.

no, it is not a cloud, it's stuffing.

Oh joy, more stuffing to clean up while dodging being licked in the face.

One Word

Yes, that is sometimes all it takes to get two little doggies into their beds. I am house sitting this weekend. And even though during the day one of them likes to tear up things (yes, he was the one who was posted about several times before... Eating my pencil, still not happy about that.) and jump on me, and breath on me. Yuck! Their hot breath in my face when I am sitting on the couch grosses me out. My favorite time is when they are laying down and not bothering me or bed time.
Here is the one word, all you have to say is "Bed" and they go to their room and get into their crates for the night. It is so cute. I was really surprised the first time I watched them at how well they behaved when I told them it was time for bed. And I don't hear a peep out of them until morning unless they really have to go potty. Which has been rare.
Waiting for me to close the door. and wondering what I'm doing.

Backfire

Well the storytelling that I was so proud of yesterday ended up backfiring on me today. I was watching the girls today and all the older one wanted to do was act out my story with the princess and the wolf. Yes, I guess I was asking for it when I had the princess and the wolf get married. Don't get me wrong it is flattering but when you have to act it out over and over and over again, it does get tiring.
After I put Jocelyn down for her nap Keneigh wanted to watch Mosters Inc. good movie. Hey, two pixar movies in two days! During the movie we doodled on the big doodle board, our monsters.
Here are a few:
Apparently my monster is in the left corner, my bed, my closet door and I'm guessing that is me in the bottom middle.
A silly looking monster.

A daisy flower on my pillow

The tink puzzle we finished.

Storytelling

Recently story telling has been something I feel like I have been doing a lot of lately. Today was no exception...
This afternoon when I was playing with the girls out on the swingset they asked me to tell them a story. I asked them which story they would like for me to tell and through much diliberation they went with Hanzel and Gretel. As I told the story I would sometimes ask questions and so they would kind of guide the story at times to how I told it. So let's just say it wasn't your average Hanzel and Gretel story. Sure it started that way, with the bread crums and eating the witches house. The girls got excited when Hanzel and Gretel were captured by the witch and put into cages of candy that they ate their way out of. Then as they were escaping and made it out of the house but couldn't find their bread crums because the birds and other animals at them. But they stumbled upon the 3 little bears house (they did all the same things that goldielocks did.) The witch followed their scent to the bears home and knew they were on vacation. She lost Hanzel and Gretel's scent because the smell of bear covered it up. So she left. When it was safe for Hanzel and Gretel to come out they did but it was dark so they found a candle and were so lost but wanted to get home. Fairies and fireflies met them and led them home to their mom and dad.

Kenleigh of course wanted another story and Joce wanted to hear that one over again. I decided to tell little red riding hood.

She was going to grannies with bread her mother had made. She ran into the big bad wolf whe was tired from huffing and puffing the 3 little piggies homes down so he wasn't in the mood to eat her just yet so he left into the woods. Then she came across the 3 little pigs and since it was getting dark she stayed with them. Morning came and it was off to grannies. She made it to grannies and the big bad wolf was of course in grannies bed, grannie was in the closet, tied up. Little red found her when he wasn't looking. She knew the only way out was the front door but grannie told her the other way was through the chimney. So when the big bad wolf was in the kitchen because he heard a noise (grannie had borrowed some of snow whites squirrles and birds and deer to help clean) little red climbed her way up the chimney where she met Mary Poppins and her friend the chimney sweep. Little red told them granny needed help and out of mary poppins big bag she pulled out something that looked like a vile of water. Mary Poppins told little red that she had to get the wolf to drink it. Little red needed more help so she went to snow whites house and got her and the 7 dwarfs to help. They of course sang "high-ho high-ho its off to grannies to go..." the 7 dwarfs had the front door down with their pick axes in minutes and they surrounded the wolf. Little red poured the vile of elixir on the bread that Mary Poppins had given her and tempted the wolf so he would eat it. The potion turned him into a frog so he could no longer hurt anyone.

And that is where I ended it. Outside was getting hot so I had to get them in. Kenleigh kept saying "finish the story." I kept saying "later, another time." But after we all got water and sat for a bit I finished the story just for her.

So the 40 years have now past and the wolf who was turned into a frog is still a frog. He was sitting by a pond doing whatever frogs do and a princess was there. She had heard about the legend that a princess kissed a frog so she thought she would try it. She kissed the frog (wolf) and the "curse" that the potion had was broken and he turned back into a wolf. But remember it had been 40 years of being a frog that he forgot all of his angry and mean wolfy ways. The princess loved the wolf no matter what he looked like, to her he was a prince. She took him back to her palace and let him stay in the guest room till she could talk to her parents. That night at dinner with the king and queen she broke the news that she was in love with the wolf. (It was so funny to watch Kenleigh's eyes grow with excitement as I told this part.) The king was delighted for he liked wolfs and said "show him in!" So the princess brought the wolf into meet her parents. They all got along and the princess was to be married to the wolf. Wedding time came and when the priest said "I now pronounce you wolf and wife." The wolf turned into a man, a real prince.
You see, he was a mean wolf because he was once a human but was changed into a wolf and that is why he was so upset.

And that is where I ended the story. Yes, a happy ending and a wedding, isn't that how all fairy tales end? :)

It was funny because later on I heard them talking to their grandma and Jocelyn was telling her all about Hanzel and Gretel meeting the witch. And Kenleigh interjected the fact that their cages were made out of candy. At first their grandma had no clue that it was the story I had told them. But it was so cute to hear them tell her the stories I had told them and their excitement about it.

My Morning

My morning was spent watching "Finding Nemo" and picking out of  which of the fish are like my friends in real life. While the little girl laughed with her little stuffed turtle.
Once the movie was over i read some 9-1-1 books. Yes, I know so exciting but it was what she wanted and they were in the room. So I read a crossword puzzle and a few other exciting things.

Oh, the exciting words you can find in a puzzle that weren't necessarily intended to be there. like ELM IF NOT

One funny thing was I was practicing her calling 9-1-1 and I was the operator. I said: "9-1-1, what's your emergency?" and she responded with "Uhhh, we don't got a tv."
Sadly I don't think that that is a good enough excuse to call 9-1-1 and had to explain that it wasn't and why.
Then we played a memory game that must have had 50 pieces and some where missing. Oh, yes, it was a lovely morning.

Our friend Gilbert

I met Gilbert a few months to a year ago. He is very polite, friendly, works at a burger stand, is yellow, and has a beak. Yes, Gilbert is a duck.
I don't exactly remember how I met Gilbert but it went something like this. One evening during bath time, the girls were playing around and handed me Gilbert. Well he wasn't Gilbert at the time but we thought what we should name him for that one time and Gilbert just popped into my head. So I suggested that and it stuck. And some how he became my helper in a restaurant. Gilbert and I were making burgers, hot dogs, shakes, and whatever else you might possibly find in a fast food restaurant.
I didn't think the girls would remember the name Gilbert and the next time I was around for bath time they handed me Gilbert, and said "Here's Gilbert." sometimes they even ask for him. It is so funny! Recently i found out they were asking for Gilbert with their Aunt and she had no idea who Gilbert was. That gave me a good laugh, I told her he was a duck. She said she was so confused.

Tonight when it was bath time they brought out Gilbert. This time poor Gilbert needed a bath. Kenleigh says to Joce "Joce, you wash his body, I'll wash his clothes."

Joce kept putting her hand on the Gilbert and I told Kenleigh to do it too.
So I have know Gilbert for some time and he is such a good friend that I thought he should have a post of his own.

Why so Angry

There was fascination with wrinkles today. While reading a bed time book that talked about all the emotions and why a kid goes through them we came across the emotion Angry.
After we read what the book says about the emotion and a reason why the kid feels that way. We talk about a time when we have felt that emotion. Well tonight Joce looks at the picture and says "He's angry because he's gonna have wrinkles." Kenleigh's reply, "Yeah, because he wrinkles his nose." and then she makes and angry face causing her nose to wrinkle.

Earlier that evening we were watching The Incredibles and Kenleigh was giving me a play by play commentary and telling me each person's name and ability.
Joce looks at me some point during the movie, puts a finger on her nose and says, "Somebody bit my elephant nose, now I can't breathe." I thought it was so funny! There is no way she has an elephant nose and it was really random. She gave me a good laugh and a smile.

The sweetest moment tonight when I was tucking them into bed and saying my "good nights." I lean over to give Joce a hug and she says to me "I'm gonna hug you forever!" so sweet! :) what a way to end the night.

Book Bathroom

Today the girls, their aunt and I went to In & Out Burger. We decided that it would be quicker to go through the drive thru and order then sit outside and eat. So we drive to the drive thru and we are in the ordering line. Their Aunt has never been to an In & Out so she had no clue what to order. As she is deciding upon what to get I hear Joce in the backseat say my name and that she has to go to the bathroom. Well right now with the potty training situation when she says she has to go, she has to go. So I got out of the car, told the aunt Joce had to potty. I carried Joce down the long driveway, their was a shortcut but it had rocks and a little bit of a hill. I was thinking "oh yeah, that would be great. I can just see myself holding Joce trying to navigate down a rocky hill and go sliding down. Yeah, that would be a great embarrassing story!"
We finally made it inside and I took her potty. She had carried a little book in, one you would get as a toy in a kids meal. She asked me to read it. So as she is sitting on the toilet I am squatted down in front of her reading her a book about this dog named Biscuit. Once I finish the book I ask if she's done, she says no and asks me to read the book again. I comply. As I am reading this book I hear a few women come and go. One had her son with her and I kept expecting him to say "How come I don't get a story?" but he didn't. Guess I'm the only one nice enough to read the kid a book while she goes potty. Once I finish reading the second time I ask if she is done she says no. But I know that she is so I say "Yes you are. Now lets go wash your hands." So I lift her up to the sink and wash her hands. Once we are done we head to go have a delicious lunch.
